Statistical Mechanics

Mechanics

Mechanics is the branch of physics in which we study the motion of particles. There are many branches of physics e.g., Classical Mechanics, Quantum Mechanics, and Statistical Mechanics.

Statistical Mechanics

Statistical Mechanics is the branch of mechanics which deals with the average effect of large no of particles. Statistical mechanics relates macroscopic properties with microscopic properties. Macroscopic properties are those properties which we can directly measure. e.g., pressure of gas and volume of gas. Microscopic properties are those properties which we cannot measure directly. e.g.; Velocity of particle etc. There are two types of Statistical Mechanics.

  • Quantum Statistical Mechanics
  • Classical Statistical Mechanics
Classical Statistical MecahAnics deals with distinguishing of particles. Its obey the classical laws e.g. Newtons laws etc.Quantum Mechanics divide into two further parts. Bose-Einstein and Fermi-Dirac.
